It is also important to find out if the deceased person had had life insurance. You must look among deceased's personal effects, in safety deposit boxes, and a bank and credit card statements. Also check with the deceased's employer and with professional associations.
The proceeds of a life insurance policy for which you specifically name a beneficiary are not part of the succession. However, if your life insurance policy indicates that the insurance is payable to the succession, the legal representatives or any person referred to by a similar expression, the proceeds of the life insurance form is of the succession.
Note
Only the notary, the liquidator of the succession, a beneficiary of a direct heir of the deceased may request such a search.
