Copy of a marriage or civil union contract

Responsibility : Ministère de la Justice

If the deceased was married or joined in civil union, you will need various documents, including a copy of the marriage contract or civil union contract, in order to settle the succession. If the contract cannot be found, you can obtain a copy by contacting the deceased’s notary or the notary’s successor. If you cannot find the notary, you must contact the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
