If a loved one dies as a result of a crime, you may be entitled to benefits from the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail, the agency responsible for enforcing the Crime Victims Compensation Act.
Under certain conditions, if you are the deceased’s spouse, dependant or child, you may be eligible for a pension and for reimbursement of the funeral expenses and the costs of transporting the body. You may be entitled to benefits if the deceased is your child. Be sure to check the deadline for filing your application. If you need help, go to your local crime victims assistance centre.
