If you have to pay for the funeral of a low-income person, the ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale may refund the related expenses even if the deceased was not a recipient of last resort financial assistance (social assistance).
To be eligible, you must be the deceased’s spouse or close relative, a person in charge of a foster home or foster family, a religious leader or the Curateur public du Québec.
