The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec allows the liquidator of a succession to transfer ownership of a vehicle to an heir. If you are unable to take that step, you may authorize another person to do so, on condition that he or she provide all the required documents.
Administration fees may apply to the transaction. If the transfer is a gift, the heir must prove that he or she is a relative of the donor in order to be exempted from paying the related taxes.
