Revenu Québec must be notified of the death of a person who received the shelter allowance. If the deceased lived alone, payment of the shelter allowance ceases as of the month following the month of death. If the deceased had a spouse who lives in the same dwelling, the spouse will continue to receive the allowance until the end of the reference year, unless the spouse applies for a review.
Revenu Québec requires proof of death for the necessary changes to be made.
Note
The program's fiscal year begins on October 1 and ends on September 30 of the following year. A new application must be submitted each year to determine eligibility.
