Firearms

Responsibility : Sûreté du Québec

If you are the liquidator of a succession (estate), and the deceased has bequeathed firearms, you must make the required verifications and complete the transfer of ownership form. The firearms must be stored safely until you legally part with them.

The firearms must either be given to an heir or to a business that holds the appropriate licence, or be destroyed by the local police department. You may keep the firearms temporarily, even you do not hold a firearm licence, and provided you are not prohibited from doing so by the Court.
